Stage M2: Investigation of possible urban ventilation enhancement with rooftop wind turbines

In the context of cities that increasingly suffer from heat waves and atmospheric pollution, the objective of this project is to verify whether rooftop wind turbines could lead to enhanced urban ventilation in the downstream street canyon, using numerical simulation. The hypothesis is that the interaction between wind turbine and street canyon flows could lead to increased mixing and updraughts due to wake entrainment (1), increased turbulence (2) and local acceleration due to wind turbine blocage (3).
